About Maggie Donovan
I’m a self-taught hand embroidery artist based in New Orleans. My embroideries are inspired by the darker side of folklore, psychology, historical narratives, the supernatural, and the feminine experience across the ages. I’m interested in how stories move — from ancient rites to modern superstition — and how old symbols continue to shape the present.

The metaphysical is woven through my work as well: ghosts, portals, the unseen. That influence comes naturally, shaped in part by my background as a transpersonal hypnotherapist. I’m fascinated with what exists just beyond the veil, and embroidery has become a way to give that in-between space a visual form.
Every piece is stitched by hand with intention. I’m drawn to weaving these themes together in ways that feel like they develop their own story, because the work always seems to become something beyond me.

Thank you for supporting independent artists and handmade work. 🖤
