Description:
Welcome to the Gateway to Hell. Muhaha!
This little ditty is inspired by Oweynagat, otherwise known as the Cave of Cats, a natural limestone fissure cave in County Roscommon, Ireland. Often called the birthplace of Halloween, this eerie site is steeped in ancient Irish mythology and is believed to have served as a gateway to the Otherworld.
According to legend, fearsome supernatural beings emerged from Oweynagat around Samhain, the ancient Celtic festival marking the transition from summer to winter. Among them were three-headed monsters, destructive pigs, and magical cats. These ancient beliefs helped shape the traditions surrounding Halloween, including protective bonfires and wearing disguises to ward off wandering spirits.
